About the Society...
The Society meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The meetings usually begin at 7.30, and the details of the programs for each meeting are listed in the Calendar of Events. You can see some pictures from previous meetings by viewing the Galleria page or the Previous Meetings page.
The evening begins with a brief discussion of club business and any announcements. Second, we ask our guest speaker or one of our members to discuss the trees brought in for critique and display. Next, we take a brief break for refreshments and allow everyone to purchase raffle tickets.
After the break, we generally have a guest speaker do a program. The speaker may do a lecture, a demonstration, a slide presentation, a workshop or may combine any or all for his program. The program topics are chosen by the club's board and we get a speaker to talk on that subject. After our guest speaker finishes, we hold our raffle, have refreshments and socialize.
If there is no guest speaker, the meeting will be a B Y O T - Bring Your Own Tree - when members bring their trees in to work on them, or to seek advice from other members on style, shaping, problems etc etc. Whatever type of meeting, Guests are always welcome - Free! .
Each year we invite three or four different Bonsai Masters to visit the Society and give a presentation or hold a workshop. Details of these visits will be found in the Calendar of Events page, and picture form previous visits can be seen on the Visits by Bonsai Masters page.

During October the Society holds its Annual Show, where we create an Exhibit of our best trees, provide presentations and workshops, create an Educational Display, hold numerous raffles and invite Bonsai Vendors to attend so that visitors and membes can see a wide selection of Bonsai-related goods for sale. During December, our regular meeting is transformed into the Annual Auction, where many trees are available for members and visitors to purchase.
We have a Library which contains many books, magazines, videos and articles on Bonsai. The library is open for members to use each time a meeting is held at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Details of the material available in the library will be available shortly on the Library page.
